For many of us, gardening is not just a lockdown activity, it’s always been an enriching part of our home lives. Now, with this glorious weather, and the strange concept that time has become, I appreciate and know how blessed I am to have a garden. But with this feeling of productive creativity, I am also tinged with guilt that others are struggling with even having a place to call home, let alone a garden to enjoy and watch plants germinate, grow and flourish over days, weeks and months. For me it is a very fundamental need and as I recently read and thoroughly agree with, we don’t need research reports to tell us that gardening is good for our mental health and wellbeing, we simply know that it is.
